About the Wedding
Our wedding took place on July 4, 2011.
The Groom
Jesse J. Peoples Jr., Engineering Manager. Lives in Washington, DC.
The Bride
Aimee Danielle Pringle, Attorney. Lives in Washington, DC.
How We Met
A long-distance love ensued shortly after Jesse coaxed a shy smile out of Aimee during their first meeting at a July 4th yacht party in New York in 2006. “I thought she was too pretty to not be smiling,” he said. Fresh out of her self-described “bougie militant” stage at Howard University and on to channeling her inner Charlotte York in law school, Aimee was won over by his “scholar and a gentleman” presence. Jesse was pursuing his masters in DC after working in California for a year, and was taken by her beauty, intellect and loving nature. “She would hug the whole world if her arms were long enough,” he said. He'd learned the Darius Lovehall lesson, Jesse made his interest known. After all, who has time to play it cool up front and then run after Union Station trains later, all salty, regretful...and winded? When she returned to DC, they slowly let down their barriers. Hardly a couch potato couple, they’re pretty easy to spot as Aimee is never without her trademark stilettos whether mingling at happy hours, cheering him on at kickball games, or serving as resident photographer at annual “we never lost a party” Howard homecoming tailgates whilst he serves as grillmaster.
The Proposal
Jesse pored over the details. Ring shopping was "more work than buying a house," he said. As for the proposal, he had several plans and went with Operation: I DO #5, with everything Aimee loves: Chicago, Howard University (they both attended but never met), and the movie "Love Jones." He proposed this summer at Union Station, where Darius was moments too late to send Nina off. They plan to honeymoon in South Africa for the culture, beaches, city life and vineyards.
"I love the idea of starting our forever by creating those kinds of incredible memories together," she said.
