Anniversary of Nwaji Michael Taiwo Jibunoh and Nneka Nerissa Jibunoh

Nwaji Michael Taiwo Jibunoh and Nneka Nerissa Jibunoh celebrated their anniversary on December 6, 2008.
Nwaji Michael Taiwo Jibunoh, 32, Telecommunication Manager. Graduated from Howard University, BBA Management. Lives in Washington, DC.
Nneka Nerissa Jibunoh, 32, Stay at Home Mom. Graduated from London Guildhall University, Law. Lives in London, UK.
With a little aqua box in tow, Nwaji popped the question at his friend’s house, complete with a banner and Jagged Edge crooning in the background. “You know which song,” he said. “Nwaji pulled out all the stops, surprising me by proposing to me at a beach party in front of so many people,” said Nneka, who met her husband while working in the same office building. Nneka, who grew up in England to a Nigerian father and Jamaican mother, said that her first impression of Nwaji was that he was tall, dark and very shy. He “chased me with the utmost consistency,” she said of their courtship. “Other men don’t compare. Period.” The chemistry was mutual, instant and clear. Nneka was every bit of “beauty personified” when Nwaji first saw her. Game over. Wife located. “I just knew,” he said. “She was very much into me and made it easy for me to chase her.” The lovebirds were surrounded by spectacular floral arrangements at their Catholic church wedding in London, followed by a reception at an upscale hotel "with all the trimmings," said Nneka. Tenets of their marital success? Patience, understanding, friendship and compromise.
Raising their children in Lagos, Nigeria, or “watching our little bad ass kids grow,” said Nwaji in jest, is of paramount importance. Nneka agrees (with more of a motherly spin): “watching our kids grow up to be beautiful human beings and our both being responsible for that” is the highlight of their shared future. As the couple celebrates their 4th anniversary, they reflect on their honeymoon in Kauai, Hawaii. All romance and paradise, Nwaji continued to pull out all the stops. “It was Hawaii. What more can I say? Our son was born exactly 9 months after that, so go figure." -Akeya Dickson
